Fresh Milk from Penang Indian Milkman

Some 30-40 years ago, buying fresh milk from an Indian Milkman was very common to Penangites.

In the 70's, Penang was in the transition from Agricultural base economy to Industrial base economy. The demand of fresh milk thus increased followed by the increased of average income per family.

Every evening, Indian Milkmen could be noticed on the road, in the Kampong, in the night market; everywhere.

Time flies. I bet most of us do not realize that we seldom see them anymore. I miss my childhood healthy food (our parents believed that a glass of hot fresh milk mixed with a bit of sugar, a bit of salt and an egg was good for the kids).

Now I see One!!

This fresh milk stall is located in Greenlane beside Mandarin Cafe.

A pot of fresh milk, boiling. You can see eggs.

On the left is fresh milk mixed with egg (for me), in the middle is fresh milk mixed with Milo (for junior) and on the right is simply fresh milk (for my gal).

Now they believe me. WE USED TO DRINK MILK MIXED WITH EGG! While they say yaks, I say yummy!
